Edward Koren Picks His Favorite Cartoons

Edward Koren has published more than eleven hundred cartoons in the magazine. He settled in Vermont with his family in 1987, and has served as a member of his town’s volunteer fire department for thirty-one years.

Amy Hwang Picks Her Favorite Cartoons

Amy Hwang sold her first cartoon to the magazine in 2009. She worked in architecture before pursuing cartooning full time, in 2018. She lives in Scarsdale, New York, with her daughter. Recurring themes in her cartoons include cats and sleep.

Liza Donnelly Picks Her Favorite Cartoons

Liza Donnelly is the author of seventeen books, one of which, “Funny Ladies,” is a history of the women cartoonists of The New Yorker from 1925 to 2005. She sold her first cartoon to the magazine in 1979 and nobody understood it.

Zachary Kanin Picks His Favorite Cartoons

Zachary Kanin sold his first cartoon to The New Yorker in 2005. He was a writer for “Saturday Night Live,” and is the co-creator of “Detroiters” and “I Think You Should Leave.” He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, their two children, and their dog, Switchblade.
