ecuadorian digital artist marco segovia takes a unique approach in transforming cartoon characters into abstract still-life sculptures. taking the most recognizable features, such as the eyes and hair of the 2D characters, segovia constructs the drawings into 3D models and renders on maxon cinema 4D. popular cartoon characters — including homer, marge, lisa simpson and rick sanchez from rick and morty — are a few of the subjects in his ‘cartoon gallery’ series.

segovia places a piece of drapery, of a color that best represents the character, over a black display pedestal and positions the geometric shapes on top. below, marco segovia deconstructs mickey mouse into two white ellipsoids that resemble his eyes, a black sphere for his nose and a pair of black flat dishes for his ears.
